Deanne Sabeck’s Luminous Wave, A Cardiff Legacy Sculpture

Situated at the southeast corner of Liverpool Drive and Newcastle Avenue, near the Cardiff-by-the-Sea branch library, Luminous Wave is a kinetic glass sculpture that rotates and refracts light, creating oceanic colors on the ground during sunny days.

The sculpture is designed to reflect the coastal environment and, from certain angles, resembles a surfing barrel. The piece is part of her “Sexy Helix” series. Accepted by the Encinitas City Council in February 2026 after a period as a temporary installation only… $10,000 left to raise
to ensure that the Luminous Waves stays in Cardiff where Art meets the Ocean.
